THIRD STRING PRODUCTIONS was founded in 2004 by Plano Sr High School student Mike Ziemer while trying to find a way to help his friends in local bands play more shows. Ziemer began interviewing bands and reviewing albums for online magazines in order to get into shows for free and meet his favorite artists starting in 2002. After building up a large list of contacts, he was asked by a local band to manage them. The bandâs first request was for Ziemer to help them put together a concert in the suburbs, the rest was history.
In March 2004, Third String Productions was born at The Plano Centre where the company would exclusively hold shows in multiple rooms from 2004 - 2009 with attendance ranging from 500 to 4800! The Plano Centre was the birth place of Unsilent Night, Monster Mosh and So What?! Music Fest (previously known as South By So What?!).
After outgrowing the Plano Centre, Third String began booking live events across Texas, and beyond, currently producing 400 - 500 events annually.
Over the last 22 years, Third String has been instrumental in helping introduce and build artists through their festivals including A Day To Remember, Enter Shikari, Forever The Sickest Kids, Dance Gavin Dance, Underoath, Beartooth, Of Mice & Men, Polyphia, and many more.
2023âs So What?! Music Festival was the largest in the festivalâs history bringing in over 22,000 people across 2 days in Dallas, TX.
In 2024, Third String Entertainment co-owners, Mike Ziemer + Orlando Mendoza took over the operations of RBC Deep Ellum and opened their first bar / music venue TX Tea Room. Since opening itâs doors, TX Tea Room has hosted such notable acts as Greyhaven, Good Terms, The Callous Daoboys, Kxllswxtch, Vincemp3, Orthodox, Hyperpop Hell, Julia Wolf, VentanA, Erin Kinsey, Felicity, Ivri, 1300Saint, Joan, TX2, Senses, Michael Cera Palin, Baby Bugs, Strawberry Girls, and more.
In 2025, they opened up their first music venue / event space, Puzzles Deep Ellum. So far it itâs first year of being open, the venue has hosted Oh, Sleeper, Galactic Empire, SkyDxddy, ThxSoMch, Tye Harris, VoilĂĄ, Vedo, Novulent, Norma Jean, Emo Nite, Blade Rave, Tsu Nami, Joey Cash, Ravefurrest, Jeris Johnson, Many Eyes, Tyler Hilton + Kate Voegele, Capstan, The Browning, Secondhand Serenade, Chrissy Chlapecka, Holywatr, Pool Kids, Bleed, Slow Joy, Dark Divine, The Summer Set, Frost Children, House Of Heavy, Thursday, Saxsquatch, He Is Legend, and more.
